我在寫這本書的時候，所有這些非凡的男人和女人會浮現，以及我在生命中遇見過的許多人也會出現在我的寫字桌上，他們全都想成為這本書的一部份——一位高中同學、一位足球教練、一位舞蹈老師以及運動教練——於是一群朋友聚集一起跟我和鶴鳥一起飛行。寫作過程中，有很多時候我覺得自己同時處在不同的時區裡，在完成了一個漫長的寫作之夜後，我有種強烈的感覺自己是從一個時間不存在的現實裡走出來。

雖然我無法把我的經驗全部用語言表達出來，但我仍然渴望與你分享其中一些經驗。希望這本書對於渴望自由和渴望過簡單生活（因活生生活著而顯得珍貴的生命）的人能夠有所啟發。「生命」誠如關先生再三地說：「是要能夠找到你的天命，並……實現它。」
